Ghanaian striker Caleb Ekuban had a standout moment as he scored the decisive goal for Genoa in a thrilling match against Lecce during matchweek 22 of the Italian Serie A.

Entering the game as a substitute at the beginning of the second half, the 29-year-old made a significant impact when his team was trailing 1-0 at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. This victory adds to Ekuban’s tally, making it two goals and an assist in his 16 appearances in the Italian League this season.

Lecce took an early lead in the 31st minute, with Nikola Krstovic finding the net with a right-footed shot from outside the box, assisted by Valentin Gendrey. As the teams headed into halftime, Lecce held a 1-0 advantage.

Genoa responded in the second half, with Mateo Retegui leveling the score in the 70th minute. Retegui’s precise header from very close range, following a set-piece situation, brought the score to 1-1.

The defining moment came when Caleb Ekuban secured the victory for Genoa in the 76th minute. Ekuban’s right-footed shot from the center of the box, assisted by Mateo Retegui’s headed pass, found the bottom right corner, sealing the win for Genoa with a 2-1 triumph.

Caleb Ekuban’s journey has seen ups and downs, with injuries affecting his performance last season. However, the Ghanaian forward is now relishing a more positive and productive season, evident in his crucial contributions on the field.

As Genoa celebrates this significant win, Ekuban’s resilience and goal-scoring prowess add a bright spark to his ongoing campaign. Football enthusiasts will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on Ekuban’s performances as he continues to make an impact in the Italian Serie A.
