Ghanaian forward Henry Addo has added his name to the list of Ghanaian players who have won a major international trophy after helping Maccabi Tel Aviv clinch the Israeli Super Cup.
The 21-year-old was instrumental in Tel Aviv’s 2-0 victory over Maccabi Petah Tikva, playing for 60 minutes and creating scoring opportunities for his teammates. The win marked the Israeli champions’ first trophy of the 2024/25 season.
Tel Aviv took the lead in the 14th minute when veteran forward Eran Zahavi connected with Gabi Kanichowsky’s pass, and they sealed the win with a goal from substitute Matan Hozez in stoppage time.
Addo joined Tel Aviv from MSK Zilina in the winter transfer window and made just a single appearance for the club last season. He is expected to make a bigger impact in the upcoming season.
In a notable debut, Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Tyrese Asante was introduced in the 61st minute, marking his first game for Tel Aviv after joining from ADO Den Haag this summer.
