Black Stars forward Iñaki Williams has resumed training at Athletic Bilbao as pre-season preparations for the upcoming 2024/25 campaign get underway.
The Ghanaian striker returns to the pitch after missing June’s World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic due to an injury. Williams had to undergo surgery to remove a piece of broken glass from his left foot, which kept him sidelined for those crucial matches.
Now 29, Williams has rejoined his teammates this week, appearing fit and prepared for the new season. His return comes on the heels of a standout campaign last year, where he was instrumental in helping Athletic Bilbao secure the Copa del Rey title for the first time in four decades.
Last season, Williams had a remarkable performance in La Liga, netting 12 goals and helping Bilbao earn a spot in European competition. As part of their pre-season strategy, Athletic Bilbao has scheduled a series of friendly matches for July and August.
Meanwhile, Iñaki’s younger brother, Nico Williams, is currently representing Spain at the European Championship in Germany.
