Ghanaian forward Kelvin Boateng delivered an impressive performance, scoring a goal and providing an assist, but it wasn’t enough to prevent First Vienna FC from suffering a 3-2 defeat to SW Bregenz in the Austrian Bundesliga 2.
SW Bregenz started strongly, taking a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals from Lars Nussbaumer in the 12th minute and Mario Vucenovic just three minutes later. However, First Vienna FC fought back after the break, with Boateng setting up Cedomir Bumbic in the 47th minute to reduce the deficit.
Boateng then equalized in the 67th minute with a composed finish after receiving a pass from Bumbic, igniting hopes for a comeback. Unfortunately for First Vienna FC, SW Bregenz regained the lead in the 80th minute through Renan, and despite their best efforts, the team could not find the equalizer again.
While the loss is disappointing, Boateng’s contributions stood out as a bright spot for his team as they continue to search for consistency in the league. The result leaves First Vienna FC with plenty to reflect on as they prepare for their next round of matches.
