Ghanaian forward Abdul Khalid Basit made his European debut for Moldovan champions FC Sheriff on Thursday.

The former Dreams FC attacker climbed off the bench to feature in Sheriff’s win against Portuguese club Braga in the Europa League.

The 25-year-old helped Sheriff to post a 2-0 victory.

Sheriff FC will be hoping to get the job done in Portugal next week and seal passge to the next stage of the competition.

Malian forward Adama Traore netted the second goal must five minutes after the Ghanaian striker was introduced into the game.

Sebastien Thill had converted a 43rd minute penalty to put Sheriff FC ahead.

Basit signed for Sheriff in September last year, joining from Tunisian giants Esperance. The Accra-born player signed a three-year contract.

He has registered seven goals and three assists in 13 games this season.

Basit was not involved in the Champions League group stage because he arrived at the club late.

Meanwhile, his compatriot Edmund Addo, sat in the stands as he watched Sheriff defeat the Portuguese side.

Addo was suspended for the round of 32 first leg match in Moldova due to yellow card accumulation in the Champions League.
