Young Ghanaian attacker Kwame Poku found the net in Peterborough United’s impressive 4-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday in the League One play-offs on Friday evening.
The match began with a lively start as Will Norris, Peterborough’s goalkeeper, made a remarkable one-handed save to deny Michael Smith in the seventh minute, capitalizing on a mistake from Oliver Norburn.
Peterborough’s opening goal came as a result of two errors. Will Vaulks clumsily cleared a cross, which fell to Taylor, and his low strike from 15 yards found its way past Sheffield Wednesday’s Cameron Dawson at the near post.
Posh extended their lead in the 37th minute when Joe Ward’s powerful shot took a slight deflection and crashed into the net beneath the crossbar, leaving the goalkeeper helpless.
Darren Ferguson’s team continued their dominant performance and made it 3-0 thanks to an excellent cross from Mason-Clark, which found Kwame Poku at the back post, and he made no mistake with his finish.
In the 81st minute, Peterborough sealed their victory with a fourth goal. Jack Taylor struck the post initially, but the rebound fell to Clarke-Harris, who emphatically headed the ball into the net at the far post. Poku had an opportunity to make it five in stoppage time, but his attempt was saved by Dawson.
