Ghanaian forward Mohammed Gadafi Fuseini was the match-winner for Royal Union SG on Thursday night, scoring the only goal in their hard-fought 1-0 victory over FC Twente in the Europa League.
The Belgian club faced a challenging Round 5 fixture against the Dutch Eredivisie side. Early in the game, Royal Union SG thought they had taken the lead when Franjo Ivanovic found the net just seven minutes in. However, VAR intervened and disallowed the goal for offside.
Undeterred, Royal Union SG struck again just four minutes later. This time, Fuseini made his presence felt, calmly converting a precise assist from Ousseynou Niang. The goal stood and ultimately decided the match, earning Royal Union SG a crucial three points.
The victory propelled Royal Union SG to 24th place in the Europa League standings, keeping their hopes of advancing to the knockout stages alive.
Having netted his first goal of the Europa League campaign, Fuseini will be eager to add more to his tally in the upcoming matches.
