Ghanaian forward Mohammed Naeem added to his season’s goal tally with his fifth strike in the Swedish Allsvenskan as Halmstad BK played to a home draw against Mjällby AIF on Sunday afternoon.
In the 36th minute, Naeem teamed up with Ghanaian defender Thomas Boakye to score the opening goal of the match. Boakye sent a cross into the box from a corner, and the ball sailed over the last Mjällby defender. Naeem reacted quickly, seizing the rebound to find the back of the net.
Mjällby equalized in the 75th minute when defender Adam Stahl found the target. The visitors had missed a penalty opportunity earlier in the game.
Former Ghanaian international defender Phil Ofosu-Ayeh played the entire duration of the match for Halmstad.
Swedish-Ghanaian defender Joseph Baffo also featured for Halmstad, completing the full 90 minutes of the round 27 fixture.
Naeem has now accumulated five goals this season, having made 23 appearances in the Swedish top division.
