Abdul Fatawu Safiu has officially inked a deal with Kotoko, extending his commitment to the club until January 2026. The esteemed player, honored as the best player and top scorer of the NC’S special competition in 2019, is making a comeback to the team following spells with Trelleborgs FF and FC Trollhättan in Sweden.
During his initial stint with Kotoko in the 2018-2019 season, Safiu left an indelible mark, netting 13 goals in sixteen appearances, including standout performances in the CAF Confederation Cup. His return aligns seamlessly with Coach Prosper Narteh’s ambition to guide the team back to the CAF Champions League, as highlighted in the Porcupine Warriors’ official statement.
Expressing his excitement about rejoining Kotoko, Safiu conveyed, “I am very excited about this opportunity. Everyone knows Kotoko is the club that I support, and as a youngster, it was my dream to play for Kotoko. To get that opportunity twice makes me feel lucky and ready to do everything to help the team,” as reported on the club’s website.
Abdul Fatawu Safiu’s return to the club serves as a substantial boost for Asante Kotoko, especially as they strive to make a compelling case for the Ghana Premier League title after a challenging start to the season.
