Sheffield United have announced their retained list ahead of the 2024/25 Championship season, confirming that Ghanaian goalkeeper Jordan Yamoah Amissah will leave the club.
Amissah departs after six years with Sheffield United, following the club’s decision not to renew his contract, which expires in June.
The Black Meteors goalkeeper joined Sheffield from German side Borussia Dortmund in 2018 but struggled to secure a starting role with the senior team. The 22-year-old made his professional debut for Sheffield United in a 1–1 EFL Championship draw with Luton Town on August 26, 2022, coming on as a substitute in the 78th minute after starting goalkeeper Wes Foderingham fell ill.
Amissah was part of the Sheffield United squad for the 2023/24 Premier League campaign but did not make a single appearance as the team was relegated to the Championship.
“Thank you @SheffieldUnited for 6 special years! Made some unreal memories, from my debut to celebrating promotion! I wish everyone involved all the best moving forward and hope you’ll be back in the big time,” Amissah wrote on X.
During his time with Sheffield United, Amissah had loan stints with Guiseley and Spennymoor Town in the English National League, as well as Burton Albion in League One.
Jordan Amissah was also part of the Black Meteors squad for the 2023 CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
