Ghanaian international Razak Abalora has completed a move to Albanian top-tier club AF Elbasani on a permanent deal.
The former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper joins as a free agent after ending his stint with Moldovan club FC Petrocub Hîncești.
Abalora, 28, is expected to play a pivotal role for Elbasani in the ongoing campaign, given his experience and impressive performances. Last season, he was instrumental in Petrocub’s historic league title win, making 13 appearances, securing six clean sheets, and conceding just seven goals.
Before joining Petrocub, Abalora played for Moldovan giants FC Sheriff Tiraspol, where he won three trophies, kept 17 clean sheets in 24 matches, and showcased his shot-stopping abilities. His journey to Moldova came after a successful spell with Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko, following his time at Tanzanian club Azam FC.
Abalora has also made four appearances for the Ghana national team, debuting in a 5-1 victory over Qatar in October 2020. His new club, Elbasani, recently earned promotion to the Kategoria Superiore, Albania’s top football division, and will look to his expertise to strengthen their squad.
