Greek side lonikos Nikeas, have announced the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Alhassan Wakaso in the ongoing winter transfer,
”Ionikos FC is pleased to announce the beginning of its collaboration with Alhassan Wakaso” the club announced.
The 32-year old who plays as a defensive midfielder is the younger brother of former Black Stars midfielder Mubarak Wakaso.
Wakaso started his football career at Portimonense in 2010 with whom he played until 2013 in the first and second divisions of Portugal, recording 69 appearances and 3 goals. In 2013 he was acquired by Rio Ave with whom he recorded 114 appearances, 8 of them in the Europa League, scoring 2 goals and 2 assists.
At the same time, he played for a semester on loan at Portimonense (15 appearances and 2 goals) while in January 2017 he moved to France for Lorient counting 15 appearances in the first division.
In the summer of 2017 he returned to the Portuguese league for Vitória Guimarães SC recording 66 appearances and 2 goals (5 appearances in the Europa League). He then transferred to Olympiacos Nicosia and from there he returned to Portugal to played in Leixões.
