Ghanaian midfielder Baba Iddrisu, who plays for UD Almería, has been sidelined for the remainder of the 2024/25 season after suffering a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee.
Following additional medical evaluations, the former RCD Mallorca player was also diagnosed with a grade 2 sprain in the internal lateral ligament of the same knee, as confirmed by Almería’s medical team.
Sebastián Jiménez, the head of the club’s medical staff, revealed that Baba will need surgery but must first recover from the sprain. The recovery period for the sprain is expected to take four to five weeks before the operation can proceed.
“The suspicions we had are now real. After consulting with several colleagues, we’ve agreed that Baba will have to undergo surgery. However, he first needs to recover from the sprained internal lateral ligament,” Jiménez told the club’s official radio, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
Before this setback, Baba made 10 league appearances for Almería in the ongoing Spanish Segunda División campaign.
The 28-year-old has also been a key figure for the Ghanaian national team, the Black Stars, earning 29 caps. His absence will be a significant blow for both club and country.
