Ghanaian midfielder Iddrisu Baba has secured a permanent transfer to Spanish club UD Almeria, signing a three-year contract after completing a season-long loan from RCD Mallorca.
The 25-year-old, who was previously on loan at Almeria, had an option-to-buy clause in his loan agreement that has now been activated, making him a permanent member of the team.
Baba, who rose through the ranks at Mallorca’s youth academy, made his breakthrough to the first team at 22 years old and played a key role in the club’s promotion to La Liga. However, his fortunes changed in the 2021-22 season when he fell out of favor, making just three appearances.
Sent on loan to Almeria for the subsequent season, Baba impressed, featuring in 25 La Liga matches and starting in 14 of them. Although Almeria faced relegation to the Segunda División, the club has opted to make Baba’s loan permanent, demonstrating their confidence in his abilities.
Internationally, Baba has earned 29 caps for Ghana since his debut in 2019.
