Ghanaian forward Benjamin Acquah was instrumental in Helsingborg’s 3-1 victory over Skövde AIK in the Swedish Superettan on Saturday afternoon.
This win marked a milestone for Helsingborg, securing their first-ever victory against Skövde AIK, a team that had previously claimed two wins and a draw in their past encounters.
Helsingborg controlled much of the match, dominating possession and creating numerous scoring opportunities. Acquah, who played the entire 90 minutes, played a crucial role in turning the tide after Hugo Engström gave Skövde AIK the lead in the 28th minute. Acquah worked brilliantly with Adrian Svanbäck to set up Dennis Olsson for the equalizer.
Moments before halftime, Dennis Olsson delivered a precise corner kick that Jon Birkfeldt met with a powerful header, putting Helsingborg ahead. Just two minutes later, Acquah took advantage of a defensive lapse to secure a 3-1 lead for Helsingborg.
Acquah’s performance this season has been noteworthy, with three goals and two assists in 19 appearances in the 2024 Swedish Superettan.
