English-born Ghanaian midfielder Hiram Boateng found the back of the net in Mansfield Town’s 1-1 draw against Stockport County in their League One clash at One Call Stadium.
Boateng, who played the full match, opened the scoring in the 25th minute, giving Mansfield the lead with a well-placed shot. His goal broke Stockport’s defense and thrilled the home supporters.
However, the lead was short-lived as Stockport County equalized before halftime. Kyle Wootton scored for Stockport, pouncing on a rebound after Mansfield goalkeeper Christy Pym made a stellar save from Fraser Horsfall’s header.
Despite having less possession and fewer shots on goal, Mansfield managed to hold on for a draw, extending their unbeaten streak against Stockport to seven wins and two draws from nine encounters.
Boateng’s goal marked his first of the season, contributing to his strong performance in all four of Mansfield’s League One matches so far. Mansfield Town’s next league fixture is against Cambridge United on September 14th.
