Young English-born Ghanaian midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is set to stay at English Premier League giant Manchester United FC this season because Erik ten Hag is said to ‘love him to madness’, according to reports.
The 18-year-old’s made just three senior appearances for the Red Devils but he was in line for selection at the end of last season, only to be ruled out of the run-in with injury and has so far in two pre-season games wowed the Dutch manager with his agility and ability to read the game with ease.
The Stockport-born midfielder was part of the 2022 FA Youth Cup winning side alongside Alejandro Garnacho and he won the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of The Year Award last season following his impressive showings in the English Premier League Two for the Red Devils.
United have signed Mason Mount already this summer to bolster their midfield and Erik ten Hag is also keen to keep the youngster and not send him on loan because of his understanding of the game.
He has played 90 minutes of football in two pre-season games for the UEFA Champions League side ahead of the 2023-24 campaign and could be used as a backup to Casemiro this season.
