Ghanaian forward O’Donkor, who was introduced in the 60th minute, wasted no time making an impact, scoring his first-ever goal for Rovers just 16 minutes after coming on. His strike sparked hopes of a comeback, but Peterborough managed to hold on and secure the three points.
Peterborough had taken control of the game with goals from Kwame Poku and Ricky-Jade Jones in the first half, followed by a third from Malik Mothersille just after the hour mark. Bristol Rovers responded quickly, with Luke McCormick pulling one back before O’Donkor’s debut goal, scored just 45 seconds later. Despite their late surge, Rovers couldn’t complete the comeback.
O’Donkor, on loan from Oxford United, has now made four appearances for Bristol Rovers, with his first goal coming in this thrilling encounter.
