Brandon Thomas-Asante delivered a match-winning performance as Coventry City defeated Swansea City 2-0 at the Swansea.com Stadium, securing their first-ever victory over the Welsh side.
Coventry took the lead in the 17th minute when Thomas-Asante set up Ellis Simms, who calmly finished from close range. Despite Swansea dominating possession, they struggled to break down Coventry’s disciplined defense.
Just before halftime, Thomas-Asante doubled the visitors’ advantage with a spectacular strike. The Ghanaian winger picked up the ball outside the box and unleashed a stunning right-footed shot into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
Swansea pushed forward in the second half but lacked the finishing touch, managing just six shots without forcing a save from Coventry’s goalkeeper. In contrast, the Sky Blues were clinical, making the most of their limited opportunities to secure all three points.
Thomas-Asante’s goal and assist take his season tally to four goals and two assists in 29 Championship appearances. With this victory, Coventry City move up to 11th place with 41 points and will look to build on their momentum when they host Leeds United on February 5th at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
