Dutch-born Ghanaian forward Deabeas Owusu Sekyere found the net for Cangzhou Mighty Lions FC during their match against Beijing Guoan in the Chinese Super League on Saturday afternoon. Despite his contribution, Cangzhou suffered a 5-1 defeat.
Prior to the game, the historical record between the two teams stood at one victory for Cangzhou Mighty Lions F.C, three wins for Beijing Guoan, and five draws.
Deabeas Owusu Sekyere was included in the starting lineup and showcased his endurance by playing the full 90 minutes.
Although the visiting team controlled possession for most of the match, they faced challenges on the scoreboard.
Unfortunately, Cangzhou Mighty Lions experienced an own goal in the 10th minute, with Liu Yang inadvertently finding the back of the net.
Beijing Guoan then expanded their lead to 2-0 in the 17th minute, courtesy of a goal from Zhang Xizhe, assisted by Fábio Abreu.
Fábio Abreu continued to make an impact, scoring with a right-footed shot from the left side of the box in the 43rd minute, extending the lead to 3-0.
Beijing Guoan didn’t let up, as Fábio Abreu struck again in the 48th minute, further securing their dominance at 4-0. Kang Sang-Woo added to the scoreline with a goal in the 53rd minute.
Deabeas Owusu Sekyere managed to pull one back for Cangzhou Mighty Lions with a consolation goal in the 85th minute.
Mighty Lions are scheduled to face Wuhan Three Towns in their next league match, which will take place as an away game.
