English League One club Bristol Rovers have announced the signing of Ghanaian striker Gatlin O’Donkor on loan from Championship side Oxford United for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
The 19-year-old forward made 24 appearances for Oxford United last season before joining National League side Barnet on loan, where he impressed by scoring six goals in 14 appearances.
In a statement, Bristol Rovers expressed their excitement about the new addition: “Bristol Rovers is delighted to confirm the loan signing of striker Gatlin O’Donkor from Championship side Oxford United. The attacker moves to The Memorial Stadium for the rest of the 2024/25 campaign and is Rovers’ fifteenth summer signing this transfer window, and fifth on loan.”
Following the announcement, O’Donkor shared his enthusiasm about the move: “It feels amazing to be a Bristol Rovers player. I can’t wait to get out there and show people what I can do. Speaking with the manager, I feel the way he wants to play really suits me. I just can’t wait to get out there. Bristol Rovers has always been a tough place to go. The way the fans back the team makes it a tough place for opponents, and I can’t wait to be a part of that.”
O’Donkor, who is eligible to represent both Ghana and England internationally, will now focus on contributing to Bristol Rovers’ campaign in League One.
