Ghanaian teenager Edmund Baidoo had a dream debut for Red Bull Salzburg, scoring in their 4-0 win over Wiener Viktoria in the Austrian OFB Cup on Wednesday.
The 18-year-old forward made an impact in his first senior match, helping his team to a comfortable victory over the lower-division side.
Salzburg took the lead just 34 seconds into the game through French midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath. His quick strike was close to setting a record for the fastest goal in the competition.
Baidoo added the second goal in the 36th minute. After his initial shot was saved by the goalkeeper, the young Ghanaian reacted quickly to head the rebound into the net, giving his team a 2-0 lead.
Wiener Viktoria’s Franz Sinner then scored an own goal to make it 3-0, and substitute Karim Konate completed the scoring in the 85th minute with a goal from a precise cross by Hendry Blank.
Baidoo recently joined Salzburg from Norwegian club Sogndal Fotball after an impressive first season in Europe. His performance in this match has already shown his potential to make a big impact at his new club.
