Ernest Poku, a Ghanaian youngster born in the Netherlands, made an impressive appearance as a substitute for AZ Alkmaar in their dominant victory over Go Ahead Eagles in the Dutch Eredivisie.
The 19-year-old, anticipated to have an increased role with the senior team this season after his notable performances in the UEFA Youth League, showcased his talents by contributing his first goal assist of the campaign in the convincing 5-1 victory at home.
Entering the match in the 61st minute to replace Jens Odgaard, Poku played a pivotal role in setting up Mayckel Lahdo’s goal.
AZ Alkmaar established a strong lead early in the game with goals from Jordy Clasie and Vangelis Pavlidis within the first 15 minutes. Youngster Ruben van Bommel extended the lead further after halftime, while Philippe Rommens pulled one back for the visiting team.
