Ghanaian forward Kwame Peprah has been named in the starting lineup for Orlando Pirates Nedbank Cup tie against AmaZulu FC today.
The 21-year-old Ghanaian attacker who has scored three goals in the Premier Soccer League in South Africa will be aiming to to add to his goal tally this afternoon at the Orlando stadium.
Peprah, who’s a former captain for Ghana Premier League Kumasi King Faisal FC has gradually become a big part of his team this campaign.
The Black and Whites outfit ended the 2021 calendar year on a high with back-to-back wins, the last of which was against Benni McCarthy’s Usuthu.
The Soweto giants reached the quarter-finals of the tournament last season before they were thrashed 4-1 by Mamelodi Sundowns and exited the competition shamefully.
Pirates have won the competition under current sponsors twice (2011 and 2014) and reached the final in 2016 and 2017, losing to SuperSport United on both occasions.
Usuthu, meanwhile, saw their 11-game unbeaten run ended by the Buccaneers in their last game of 2021, where they were humbled after becoming the first side to beat Mamelodi Sundowns in the league prior to that game.
Benni McCarthy’s charges reached the last 16 of the tournament last season before they were eliminated by Black Leopards and are hoping to go a further in the competition this season.
AmaZulu’s best run in the competition was reaching the final in 2010 but lost 3-0 to Bidvest Wits.
