Ghanaian youngster Lawrence Agyekum has expressed his delight after making his Europa League debut for Belgian club Cercle Brugge.
The 20-year-old midfielder joined the Green and Black during the summer transfer window from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg and quickly adapted to his new team.
Agyekum came off the bench to help Brugge secure a draw against Kilmarnock in the first leg of the second round of qualifiers in the European competition.
The West Africa Football Academy graduate replaced goalscorer Kazeem Olaigbe with 15 minutes left, helping the Belgian side hold on to a 1-1 draw at Rugby Park stadium.
“Unforgettable night making my European soccer debut! Thank you to the amazing travelling fans for your incredible support. Looking forward to the next leg,” wrote the hardworking midfielder.
Olaigbe’s 55th-minute strike was equalized by David Watson’s goal with 20 minutes remaining. Cercle Brugge will host Kilmarnock in the second leg in a week’s time.
Agyekum’s compatriot and Black Stars midfielder Francis Abu played the entire match.
