Ryan McAidoo has revealed that training with Manchester City’s first team is extremely demanding, describing the experience as intense, fast-paced, and mentally challenging as he continues his development at the club.
Speaking on an official club podcast, McAidoo explained that sessions with the senior squad leave no room for mistakes, with players expected to be sharp, disciplined, and fully focused from start to finish. He noted that the speed of play and the quality of players force young talents to think quicker and work harder to keep up.
The young midfielder highlighted that every training session feels like a test, as standards are very high and effort alone is not enough. According to him, consistency, tactical awareness, and quick decision-making are crucial to surviving at that level.
McAidoo also pointed out that training alongside experienced professionals has helped him grow both physically and mentally, pushing him to improve every aspect of his game. He described the environment as competitive but supportive, with senior players setting the pace and example.
Although teammate Kaden Braithwaite also shared similar views on the toughness of first-team training, the spotlight remained on McAidoo’s journey, as he continues to adapt to the demands of elite football and work towards establishing himself at the highest level.
