Swedish-born Ghanaian prodigy Sion Oppong has reached a significant milestone in his football career by signing his first professional contract with Allsvenskan side IF Brommapojkarna.
The 17-year-old, who has risen through the club’s youth ranks, is now set to showcase his talent on the senior stage.
Oppong joined the club as a young boy in 2007 and has steadily progressed, demonstrating immense potential and dedication.
His journey from the youth system to the men’s team has been described as remarkable, with the club recognizing his hard work and promising future.
In an official announcement, IF Brommapojkarna praised Oppong’s development, stating:
“17-year-old Sion Oppong takes the step from P17 to the men’s team when he signs his first senior contract. Oppong has gone all the way from the boys’ school to the men’s team in BP.”
Sporting director Philip Berglund commended the youngster’s efforts, saying:
“Sion has had an impressive journey… He is well worth the chance.”
During the previous season, Oppong scored 14 goals in 26 matches, playing a vital role in his team’s success in both the Swedish and Scandinavian youth championships.
His skill and determination have sparked hopes of a potential future with the Ghana national team.
Oppong expressed his excitement, saying, “It’s really fun to now be with the first team. I’m looking forward to developing even more.”
