Ghanaian teenager Stephen Acquah delivered a dramatic late equalizer on Sunday to help FC Nordsjaelland secure a 2-2 draw against Brøndby IF in the Danish Superliga.

The thrilling encounter took place at the Right to Dream Park, where both sides showed great intensity and fought hard for a win.

Brøndby took the lead just before halftime, with Japanese midfielder Yuito Suzuki finding the net to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage going into the break.

Nordsjaelland responded well in the second half and found the equalizer in the 60th minute through Marcus Ingvartsen, whose sharp finish brought the hosts level. However, Brøndby regained the lead 15 minutes later when Nicolai Vallys struck with precision to make it 2-1.

With time running out, 18-year-old Stephen Acquah was brought on as a substitute. The promising Ghanaian defender, who joined Nordsjaelland in May 2024 from the Right to Dream Academy, made a huge impact just moments after coming on.

In the 88th minute, Acquah calmly slotted home the equalizer, rescuing a valuable point for his side and earning loud cheers from the home crowd.

His goal not only salvaged a result but also marked a significant personal milestone, showcasing the continued rise of Ghanaian talent in European football. It also highlighted the success of FC Nordsjaelland’s youth development system, which has long focused on nurturing young African players.

The draw keeps Nordsjaelland in contention for a top-three finish, and Acquah’s late heroics suggest he could be a key figure in the closing stages of the season.
