Daniel Nii Laryea, the Ghanaian referee, has earned a place in the distinguished lineup of officials set to oversee matches at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
This marks Laryea’s second consecutive AFCON tournament, having been part of the refereeing team in the previous edition held in Cameroon.
Known for his expertise across various levels of African football, including youth tournaments, club competitions, and Women’s competitions, Laryea has gradually climbed the ranks.
While he has officiated in different capacities, including VAR roles, this AFCON presents a special occasion as he debuts as a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for matches during the tournament.
The official list released by CAF on December 21, 2023, features 26 center referees, 30 assistant referees, and 12 VAR officials selected for the prestigious competition.
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to commence on Saturday, January 13, and will unfold until February 11, 2024.
