Ghana’s defender Jonathan Mensah made history for himself as he became the fastest ever goal scorer in the history of the Major League Soccer in America for his club, Columbus Crew SC.
The Ghanaian Center-back on Saturday evening against Atlanta United FC in the MLS scored for his team Columbus Crew SC in their away win.
Mensah met a corner kick inside the box to power home the game’s opening goal under one minute to put the away team in the lead.
His goal, which was scored after just 57 seconds in the fastest any player plying their trade with Columbus Crew has ever managed in the history of the American Major League Soccer which is the top-flight football league in the United States of America.
The Ghanaian international’s goal after 57 seconds is the first Columbus Crew goal in the opening minute of a regular season match in the club’s MLS history, in its 835th game.
His team went ahead to beat their opponents 2-1 at the end of the match as he opened his goal account for the season.
He expected to land in Ghana on Sunday evening to join his teammates for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Central Africa Republic.
