Ghana’s U-15 boys and girls national teams have safely arrived in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, ahead of the 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship WAFU-B Qualifiers.
The contingent, made up of 20 players in each squad, touched down on Saturday evening as preparations heighten for the sub-regional competition scheduled from December 1 to December 4, 2025.
The qualifiers, organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), form part of a flagship continental initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots football and unearthing the next generation of African stars. The WAFU-B zone remains one of Africa’s most competitive regions, featuring football powerhouses such as Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Niger and hosts Burkina Faso.
Ghana enter the tournament with renewed optimism following their sterling performance in the previous edition. The girls’ team emerged continental champions at the grand finals held at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, while the boys’ team finished third, solidifying Ghana’s reputation as a big force in youth football development.
This year’s qualifiers offer another valuable stage for Ghana’s promising youngsters to demonstrate their abilities, uphold the nation’s proud football heritage, and secure qualification to the continental finals of the CAF African Schools Football Championship.
Now in its fourth edition, the championship has previously been hosted by Côte d’Ivoire, Togo and Niger.
