Ghana international, Gideon Mensah, was named in the starting line-up for the first time for AJ Auxerre in their game against Olympique Lyon on Wednesday, August 31.
The game also saw the left-back make his first appearance for the club since penning a three-year deal after leaving Salzburg,
Mensah played all minutes available and completed the most dribbles as well as won the most duels as Auxerre succumbed to a 2-1 defeat away from home.
The 23-year-old’s debut was delayed as the manager wanted him to catch up with fitness after not beginning pre-season with the club.
Mensah will look to start again when they face Olympique Marseille in their next game.
