Asante Kotoko has confirmed the departure of 21-year-old goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim after his contract expired, ending an eight-year spell with the club.
Ibrahim joined Kotoko in 2016-17 season after impressing with the Black Starlets in the 2017 U-17 Cup of Nations and World Cup.
He quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, helping the team win the Ghana Premier League title in the 2021/22 season.
However, he struggled to maintain his form in the just-concluded 2023/24 season, making only 13 appearances and keeping four clean sheets. This led to him losing his starting spot to Frederick Asare.
The Ghana youth international has already attracted interest from two Premier League clubs and is expected to sign with one of them soon.
During his time with Kotoko, Ibrahim has featured for Ghana at the U17, U20, and U23 levels, as well as for the Black Galaxies. He was also part of Ghana’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Ibrahim will be remembered for his dedication and service to Asante Kotoko during his eight-year tenure.
