GoldStars urges GFA to include ‘red-hot’ Attah Kumi in Austria, Germany friendlies

Reigning Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani GoldStars are making a strong case for leading striker Samuel Attah Kumi to earn a call-up to the Ghana national football team ahead of upcoming international friendlies.

GoldStars are enjoying another impressive campaign, currently sitting second on the league table — just one point behind leaders Medeama SC. At the heart of their title push has been Attah Kumi, who has netted 11 goals in 23 league appearances, emerging as one of the most consistent forwards in the domestic top flight.

The 26-year-old has been decisive both home and away, underlining his importance to the Miners’ attacking force.

Speaking to Citi Sports, the club’s Deputy Communications Director Joseph Oti Manu insisted the striker deserves an opportunity on the international stage, particularly with Ghana preparing for high-profile friendlies against Austria and Germany as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“I believe Sammy is a very good player. Eleven goals in 23 matches this season speaks for itself. I think it is the right call for him to be included in the Black Stars. His form has been impressive, whether home or away,” Oti Manu stated.

He further urged the Ghana Football Association to consider integrating the in-form forward into the squad for the European tour to properly assess his readiness ahead of the World Cup.

“I think the GFA (Ghana Football Association) should consider very well to make him part of the (Black Stars) team that will travel to Germany and Austria to play these friendly games to really assess him very well prior to the World Cup,” Oti Manu added.
