Dominic Frimpong and Prince Anane powered Berekum Chelsea to a vital 2–0 victory over defending champions Bibiani GoldStars, boosting the Blues’ survival hopes in the Ghana Premier League at the Golden City Park.
Chelsea, who entered the game under relegation pressure after a difficult first round, showed urgency from the outset and took control early. Frimpong broke the deadlock in the 12th minute with a fierce strike from outside the box after a swift move from defence opened up the GoldStars backline.
The home side continued to press and created sustained pressure, although the visitors gradually grew into the contest, with Bernard Kesse coming close before the interval.
After the restart, Chelsea resumed on the front foot and doubled their advantage just four minutes in, as Prince Anane climbed highest to head home from a well-delivered cross on the right.
Although Frimpong was later forced off through injury, Chelsea remained organised and disciplined. Bibiani GoldStars pushed forward in search of a response, but the hosts stood firm at the back to secure all three points and strengthen their bid to remain in the top flight.
