The Ghana Premier League encounter between Medeama SC and Aduana FC at the Tarkwa and Abosso Park was suspended after a heavy downpour made conditions unsafe for play, bringing an abrupt halt to what had developed into a closely contested fixture.
Medeama started strongly and controlled much of the first half with purposeful attacking play and disciplined possession. Their pressure paid off in the 18th minute when Salim Adams produced a powerful long-range free kick that beat the goalkeeper to hand the hosts a deserved lead.
The home side maintained their advantage into halftime, limiting Aduana to very few clear chances while showing efficiency in front of goal.
After the restart, Aduana improved their tempo and attacking movement as they searched for a response. Their persistence was rewarded in the 65th-minute when Seidu Saana found the equaliser to level the score and shift momentum in favour of the visitors. The goal set up a tense final phase with both teams pushing for a decisive winner.
However, worsening weather conditions soon took control of the contest. Continuous rainfall saturated sections of the pitch and reduced visibility, prompting match officials to suspend proceedings with roughly 20 minutes left to play.
3Sports’ Mutala Yakubu, who’s on the grounds, reports that the remaining minutes will be completed at 9am tomorrow once conditions are suitable. Both clubs will now await confirmation as the competition schedule adjusts to accommodate the unfinished match.
