Accra Lions achieved a historic victory in the Ghana Premier League by dismantling Berekum Chelsea 5-0 in Sogakope, marking coach Samuel Boadu’s return to the dugout with a disastrous defeat.
Despite Boadu’s recent appointment as the new coach of Berekum Chelsea, Accra Lions showed no mercy, delivering their most significant win of the season and securing their first victory of the second round.
The match saw new signing Blessing Asuman shine, scoring his first two goals for Accra Lions. Young talent Dominic Amponsah, Ali Mohammed, and second-half substitute Abdul Shakun Abubakar also contributed to the Lions’ dominant display.
Accra Lions asserted their dominance early on, with Asuman and Yahaya Mohammed threatening the Chelsea goal. Amponsah opened the scoring with a superb solo effort, followed by Ali Mohammed’s header from a corner just before halftime, giving Lions a comfortable lead.
In the second half, Asuman showcased his talent with a magical goal, followed by another impressive finish eight minutes later. Shakun Abubakar sealed the victory with a fifth goal in the dying minutes of the game, capping off a memorable performance for Accra Lions.
