Asante Kotoko secured a 1-0 victory over Accra Lions at the Len Clay Stadium, propelling them to the top of the Premier League table.
The opening 45 minutes of the game saw no goals. Asante Kotoko saw more of the ball but failed to test goalkeeper Daniel Afful with any significant shots.
Just like in midweek against Nsoatreman, Asante Kotoko broke the deadlock just 2 minutes into the second half, Albert Amoah expertly tapped in a cross from Saaka Dauda.
The remaining minutes of the game saw fewer chances from both sides as Asante Kotoko held on to win 1-0, a result which takes them top of the table.
In other exciting matches, Karela United secured a late equalizer to draw 1-1 with Samartex. Samartex had taken the lead in the waning moments of the first half courtesy of Michael Sefah’s goal. However, Mohammed Hardi’s late-game strike leveled the score for Karela United.
At Nana Kromansah Park, Nsoatreman defeated Legon Cities 3-1 to compound their miseries. Nsoatreman had a great start with Richard Acquah, Walid Fuseini and Morrison Anokye scoring to give them a 3-0 lead at half-time. Alidu Mohammed scored later in the game to reduce the deficit.
Bibiani GoldStars secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bechem United at the Dun’s Park, courtesy of a 36th-minute goal from Michael Nkoah. This win extends GoldStars’ impressive unbeaten streak at home to 13 games, comprising 12 wins and a draw.
Vision FC continued their strong start to the season with a 1-0 win over fellow newcomers Basake Holy Stars. Daniel Yemoh scored the only goal of the game in the 43rd minute.
Dreams FC continued their struggles as they suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Nations FC. Nafiu Sulemana scored the decisive goal in the 80th minute to condemn Dreams to another disappointing result.
At the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea secured a 1-0 win over newcomers Young Apostles. Meszack Afriyie scored the only goal of the game in 72nd-minute.
Hearts of Oak’s winless run against Aduana FC persisted as they were held to a 0-0 draw. Aduana FC with a man down for over 30 minutes after Rich Sackey’s dismissal.
Meanwhile, Medeama and Hearts of Lions played out a goalless draw at the TNA Park in Tarkwa, maintaining their unbeaten starts.
