Former Asante Kotoko center-back Maxwell Agyemang has returned to Karela United FC during the January transfer window.

While details of the move remain undisclosed, the 28-year-old has already been registered and is set to feature in the second phase of the 2024/25 season.

Agyemang, who has yet to make a competitive appearance this season, previously spent the 2023/24 campaign with Karela United, making 16 appearances. He will aim to play a more prominent role in his second stint with the club.

The defender initially joined Asante Kotoko ahead of the 2021/22 season from Division One side Wamanafo Mighty Royals. He played a key part in Kotoko’s title-winning campaign that year but struggled for consistent game time thereafter, featuring in only 22 matches over two seasons before departing.

Karela United, nicknamed the ‘Pride and Passion,’ have been underwhelming this season. They are currently on a four-game winless streak and sit 15th in the league standings with 14 points, just one spot above the relegation zone.

The club hopes Agyemang’s return will bolster their defense and help turn their season around.
