1. Bibiani Gold Stars win at Accra Hearts of Oak again

In the last 25 away games played away from home by Bibiani Gold Stars in the Ghana Premier League, the Minners have won just 2 and the two victories have come come against Accra Hearts of Oak. Interestingly, Frimpong Manso spearheaded both wins.

What Gold Stars need this season away feom home is 5 wins, 5 draws and 7 defeats and they will surely win the title if they can record 15 home wins.

That’s the task ahead for Frimpong Manso and his men. Samartex won the title with 61 points in 23-24, Medeama won it with 60 in 22-23, Kotoko won it with 67 in 21-22, Hearts of Oak won it with 61 in 20-21 season since the 18-team league format was introduced.

A total of 65 points can help Gold Stars win the title. Their biggest issue is winning away from home and they commenced it from where they ended last season with a slim 1-0 win in the capital.

2. Young Apostles sinks Dreams FC

The P.R.O of Young Apostles, Alhaji Salia Efiewura promised a win over Dreams only if the officials led by Charles Bulu will be fair and firm at the Wenchi Park. Young Apostles recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Karim Zito’s side. The victory has pushed them out of the relegation zone and now sits 13th on the table having won 9 points from 8 games.

The dream for Apostles is undoubtedly to remain in the league and the 3 points against fellow strugglers Dreams FC will be very crucial at the end of the season.

3. Samuel Boadu suffers first defeat of the season in Samraboi

Defending champions Samartex SC still remains competitive at home. The place that led them to the holy grail last season still remains a fortress. In a very crucial game aginst the unbeaten Berekum Chelsea at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena, Nurudeen Amadu’s side won 1-0 in a hard fought manner and handed Samuel Boadu, his first defeat of the season.

Samuel Boadu has made Chelsea a competitor since signing for them but Nsenkyire  Park silenced them.

4. Faisal Charwetey makes Akatsi All Stars proud

He is from the Access Bank Division One League, yes!!! He is from the lower tier of Ghanaian football. Faisal Charwetey, 21, has been so sensational since joining Nations FC. His inclusion in Kasim Mingle’s side shows how good he is especially coming from a lower tier side.

Akatsi is watching their golden boy as he dazzles at Abrankese for Nations FC. Over the weekend, the young forward scored a brace in Nations FC’s 3-0 win over Vision. Kasim Ocansey Mingle’s side will hope Charwetey’s scoring will continue after finding the back of the net four times in 8 games.

5. Holy Stars and Kotoko played on a horrible pitch

Crosby Awuah Memorial Stadium’s pitch should not be allowed to host any Premier League game.  Kotoko’s trip to Nzema in Anyinase ended in 1-1 on Sunday afternon in a fierce contest. The game was exciting as expected with Prosper Ogum’s Porcupine Warriors taking the lead through Albert Amoah’s 35th minute goal.

Prince Tweneboah’s 81st minute goal helped Holy Stars secured a point. Now to the pitch. The pitch was as horrible as anything horrible one can imagine. Per Poole, a member of Asante Kotoko’s communications team  “the pitch should not be allowed to host any competitive game in the country”.

The pitch is in a very poor state and ought to be repaired for Basake Holy stars and travelling teams to enjoy themselves.
