Bernard Kokonu’s second-half goal earned Dreams FC their first victory of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Basake Holy Stars at the AAK II Sports Arena on Sunday.
The crucial victory not only lifted the spirits of Winfred Dormon’s side after a difficult start to the campaign but also brought an end to Holy Stars’ flawless home record.
The turning point came in the 33rd minute when Basake Holy Stars were reduced to 10 men after Bismark Teye received a red card following a fiercely contested opening half.
Dreams FC took full advantage of their numerical superiority shortly after the restart, with Kokonu finding the breakthrough in the 50th minute to put the visitors ahead.
The Still Believe lads remained disciplined at the back and successfully resisted late pressure from the hosts to secure a priceless three points.
Despite the defeat, Basake Holy Stars remain 10th in the league standings and will aim to return to winning ways when they travel to face Port City in their next fixture.
Dreams FC, although still rooted to the foot of the table, will hope the victory serves as a turning point as they prepare to welcome league newcomers Debibi United in their next Ghana Premier League encounter.
