Yaw Preko, the former Head Coach of Great Olympics, has been awarded GHS 30,000 by the Ghana Football Association’s disciplinary committee.
Preko was terminated by the club via text message on September 14, 2022, despite having a one-year contract.
This was due to his persistent use of former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyeman Badu, which went against directives from the club’s CEO Oluboi Commodore.
Preko filed a petition with the disciplinary committee, which ruled in his favor, charging Great Olympics with a breach of contract for Commodore’s decision to fire the head coach unilaterally.
The committee found no evidence to suggest that Preko had breached any clauses of his contract with the club.
“Based on the available documents and pieces of evidence before the Committee, we are satisfied that, Petitioner did not breach Clause 5a or 5b of his contract with the club since there is no convincing evidence before the committee”, a portion of the ruling stated.
