Head coach of Heart of Lions, Bashir Hayford, believes his side’s goalless draw against Hearts of Oak was a fair outcome, describing the result as an accurate reflection of the game.
Both teams faced off at the Kpando Sports Stadium in a competitive Ghana Premier League Week 26 encounter, with each side pushing for maximum points. However, solid defensive displays and a lack of cutting edge in attack ensured the match ended without a goal.
Reacting after the game, Hayford praised the balance of the contest, noting that neither side did enough to claim outright victory.
“I think this result truly reflects how the game went,” he said. “Hearts of Oak were very solid defensively, and we were equally disciplined at the back. Both teams tried to use the midfield to create openings, but it proved difficult.”
The experienced tactician added that sharing the spoils was a reasonable outcome given the nature of the match.
“Half a loaf is better than none. We’ll take the point and move forward,” he concluded.
The result leaves Heart of Lions in ninth place on the Ghana Premier League table, while Hearts of Oak remain third but could slip out of the top four depending on results from other fixtures.
