Asante Kotoko SC are set to appoint Hamza Obeng Mohammed as their new assistant coach and head coach of the club’s youth side, the Young Porcupines, pending official confirmation from the club.
The 31-year-old has emerged as a top candidate for the deputy coaching role, thanks to an impressive resume that spans successful stints with some of Ghana’s top clubs.
Obeng made his name at Medeama SC, where he served as assistant coach to Samuel Boadu from 2017 to 2021, playing a crucial role in building a competitive team.
He later moved with Boadu to Hearts of Oak, where their partnership delivered a domestic double — winning the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League and back-to-back FA Cup titles.
Most recently, Obeng worked as assistant coach at Vision FC, where he was key to the club’s historic promotion to the Ghana Premier League. He holds a CAF License B and is widely regarded as one of the brightest young coaching minds in the country.
