Ghanaian champions Hasaacas Ladies have been drawn into a challenging group in the 2024 WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League qualifiers, set to take place from August 10-23, 2024.
The ‘Hasmal Ladies’ will return to the continental competition after a two-year absence, having won the Ghana Women’s Premier League title in the 2023/24 season.
Hasaacas Ladies will face stiff competition in Group B, where they will be up against Nigerian champions Edo Queens, AS Grade Nationale from Niger, and Burkinabe side Ominisports Entichele.
This will be the club’s second appearance in the CAF Women’s Champions League, after they made a stunning run to the final in the maiden edition in 2021.
Although head coach Yussif Basigi is currently with the Black Princesses preparing for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, Hasaacas Ladies will still be looking to prove themselves in Cote D’Ivoire and secure a spot in the main competition. The team has been on a roll, having won the Ghana Women’s Premier League title and beating bitter rivals Ampem Darkoa Ladies 2-1 to emerge champions.
The WAFU Zone B qualifiers will provide a stern test for Hasaacas Ladies, but they will be determined to make a strong impression and earn a spot in the main competition. With their experience in the CAF Women’s Champions League, they will be confident of putting up a good show and making Ghana proud.
