Former Ghana goalkeeper, William Amamoo has asked Ghanaians to have patience for Black Stars goalie Jojo Wollacot after an unimpressive AFCON campaign.
The former Black Stars shot stopper says the young Swindon Town FC first choice goalkeeper is the future of Ghana and must be given the necessary support.
According to him, goalkeepers are bound to make mistakes and shouldn’t be chastised when it happens but should be rather supported.
“Ghanaians must always support our goalkeepers and give them a big boost because goalkeepers are bound to make mistakes”.
“I’m happy to see or hear the coming back of Jojo Wollacot because he’s our future and needs our support to succeed as Black Stars first choice goalkeeper”, he said.
According to him, even Manuel Neuer makes mistakes when he is in goal and cited Germany’s 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Sweden which ended 4-4 after the Germans took a four-goal lead.
“If Manuel Neuer was a Ghanaian he would have out of the 2014 Germany World Cup winning team after conceding four goals against Swedenc, he told Top FM in Accra.
Amamoo believes goalkeepers needs time and Ghana must offer Wollacot time to grow with the national team.
Ghana takes on Nigeria on March 25 in the last huddle for the 2022 World Cup.
