English Premier League side Leicester City manager Steve Cooper has revealed that Ghana forward Jordan Ayew could be available for his team’s Premier League clash with Chelsea this weekend.
Ayew sustained an injury during Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola and missed the subsequent match against Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium last Monday. Despite the setback, Ayew had earlier scored a brilliant free-kick to help Ghana secure a 1-1 draw with Angola.
After the injury, Ayew returned to Leicester City for further evaluation. Ahead of their upcoming match against Chelsea, Cooper assured that the injury is not as serious as initially feared, and the forward may feature on Saturday.
“It’s not a serious injury contrary to some reports. The hope is he may be available for the weekend, but we’re a little inconclusive on that for the moment,” Cooper stated.
Ayew joined Leicester City in the summer transfer window after leaving Crystal Palace, where he had spent seven years. Since his arrival at Leicester, Ayew has been an important player, scoring vital goals for the Foxes. He has netted two goals in 10 Premier League appearances so far.
