Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has backed debutant Kwasi Sibo to develop into a key player for Ghana, praising his qualities while also drawing comparisons with his own playing style.
Sibo, who plies his trade with Spanish Segunda side Real Oviedo, recently made his debut in Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali, partnering Thomas Partey in central midfield at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Reflecting on the youngster’s performance, Agyemang Badu noted that while Sibo does not replicate the energy and physical drive he brought during his playing days, the 25-year-old possesses attributes well suited for the modern game.
“[Kwasi] Sibo is a very solid player with a lot of promise. Honestly, he can’t match the power and energy I brought to the team in my time, but he has qualities that suit the modern game,” Agyemang Badu told Graphic Sports.
He further highlighted Sibo’s composure, passing ability, and discipline, stressing that with the right mentorship, he could evolve into an influential figure for the national team.
“I like his composure, ball distribution, and discipline. With the right guidance, he can become a big name for the Black Stars.”
Sibo, who has already described his first call-up as a “blessing,” will be hoping to build on his debut when Ghana regroup in October for their final round of World Cup qualifiers against Central African Republic and Comoros.
