Bernardo Silva has praised Manchester City’s new signing Antoine Semenyo, lauding both the Ghanaian forward’s quality and character following an impressive start in sky blue.
Speaking after City’s latest cup success, Silva revealed how seamlessly Semenyo has settled into Pep Guardiola’s squad, highlighting his positive attitude, work ethic, and willingness to contribute on the big stage.
The 26-year-old continued his fine form by scoring in City’s 2–0 EFL Cup semi-final first-leg victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park, handing the defending champions a vital away advantage. Semenyo’s intelligent movement and calm finishing caused constant problems for the Newcastle defence, underlining why City acted decisively to secure his signature.
“He looks not just a very good player but also a very good guy, which fits right in with the team,” Silva said. “He is a fantastic guy who wants to help us. Hopefully, he can keep going.”
Semenyo’s impact has been immediate. Just days earlier, he marked his competitive debut with a goal and an assist in City’s emphatic FA Cup victory over Exeter City. His strike against Newcastle also saw him become the first Manchester City player to score in each of his first two appearances since Emmanuel Adebayor in 2009.
