Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is optimistic about midfielder Thomas Partey’s recovery from a thigh injury, stating in a pre-game press conference ahead of the FA Cup Third Round tie against Liverpool that the Ghanaian’s return is just weeks away.
Partey, who was recently seen working out for the first time since his injury before the UEFA Champions League match against Sevilla, has been sidelined for a significant period, but Arteta is encouraged by his progress.
“Hopefully it’s weeks [until he’s fit again]. How many weeks it will be will depend a little bit on how long the next step of training with the team will take him, but he’s progressing well.”
Despite the positive strides, Partey was not included in the Ghana squad for the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire, a decision Arteta supports, deeming it a sensible choice.
Ghana finds itself in Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique for the tournament.
